Frequently Asked Questions

What if I am new to music production?

If you’re just starting out on your music production journey and would like to join the program, there is a separate Foundation Group, that runs seperately from Production Sessions.

You can register your interest by reaching out at info@futureengineers.net

What software do I need?

You’ll need a DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) such as Logic Pro, Ableton Live, FL Studio or Cubase.

You will work in your own DAW so there is no need to learn a new one.

For the best experience, you’ll also need:

- Stable internet connection
- Desktop or laptop computer
- Microphone and built-in or external webcam (if you’re attending live)
- Headphones.

Do I need to produce drum & bass to join?

No. The examples lean toward drum & bass and electronic music, but the frameworks, decision-making process, and workflows apply to all electronic genres.

When does the course start?

The start date for Series 5 is Saturday 28th February 2026

How long does the program last?

Production Sessions is designed as a long-term production practice that you can return to across multiple cycles.

Series 5 is the second iteration of the Start-to-Finish program, and the curriculum will be continuously developed and refined, based on Founding Member feedback.

The modules are held as monthly sessions and the timeline for one track to be completed is approximately 10 months.

I like to work quickly on music, can I work on more than one track?

Yes, you can apply the framework to any new or existing track that you are working on.

You can allocate one track to work on during the program, and then apply the knowlegde you have gained to other tracks you are working on.

You can even work on multiple tracks during the course and dip in and out of each track when the module topic becomes relevant to a specific track.

What time is the monthly live Zoom session?

The live sessions run on the last Saturday of every month at the following times:

Group 1: 10:00 - 12:00 AEST.

Group 2: 21:00 - 23:00 GMT.

What if I decide the program isn’t right for me?

If you're not satisfied with the program, simply contact us within 30 days of joining for a full refund.

What if I can’t attend every live session?

All sessions are also available as On-Demand replays. You can work through the framework at your own pace while staying connected to the community.

Alternatively, if your busy schedule doesn't allow you the time to attend the live sessions, you can join the On-Demand Tier, which allows you to watch each module in your own time, and still follow the group as it moves through the course in real-time.

What happens if I fall behind?

You can start your own cycle at any point and move through the modules in order, at a pace that fits your life.

Some producers choose to follow the live cycle, others prefer to move autonomously through the content without pressure.

Both approaches are valid and supported.

Can I just watch the content and not have to commit to the course?

Yes, the Retrospective Replay Tier allows you to access the module replays without having to participate in the course.

Can I join Patreon at any time?

You can join Production Sessions even if the live cycle is already underway.

Each module stands on its own and fits into the full framework.

Some producers choose to follow the live cycle, others prefer to move autonomously through the content without pressure.

Both approaches are valid and supported.

How is this different from watching tutorials or breakdowns?

You’ll observe Future Engineers build a real track from scratch, including uncertainty and decision-making, then apply the same process to your own track in your own DAW with guidance and community support.

How long do I have access to the content and community?

You will have access to the content and support from Future Engineers and the community for as long as you remain a Patreon.

Will I get feedback on my music?

Yes. You’ll receive constructive feedback inside the Discord community from Future Engineers and producers working through the same framework.

What kind of feedback can I expect?

Feedback focuses on what’s working, what’s holding the track back, and what to address next — always aligned with the stage you’re in.

What happens at the end of the program?

Production Sessions is an ongoing program and you will continue to receive support from Future Engineers and our community for as long as you remain a Patreon.

Unless you state otherwise, you will be automatically enrolled in the next series and the next production cycle will start again from the beginning.

Will I really finish a track?

If you follow the process and stay engaged, yes. The entire program is designed to guide one track from start to completion.

What happens after I finish my track?

You’ll reflect on the process, identify improvements, and begin the next cycle with more clarity and confidence.

Will my music be released?

There are no guarantees. If a finished track is a good fit, you’ll receive guidance on potential release options — through Transference or another suitable label.

How will I receive feedback on my track?

You will receive personalised feedback from Future Engineers and otther producers in the community at each step of the track writing process through Discord.

You can also request more detialed feedback from Future Engineers via email.

You will also have the opportunity to provide feedback to others, ensuring that you all learn and grow together, and push through any technical challenges or creative blocks.

What additional support is available to me?

You can ask a question at any time through Discord.

Additional 1-to-1 support is available through the Patreon VIP Tier which includes 1 hour of personalised 1-to-1 tuition each month to help you work through the modules and any stumbling blocks.

You can also request for additional 1-to-1 tuition at any time.
